Silkscreen, part two

Screenprinted muslin on clothesline

After looking very literally at my bed for a while, I began observing its other functions. The bed was the place where I relaxed, listened to music, and sketched; where I sat on my laptop and communicated across distances to friends and family; where I could retreat from everyone and exist within my own head for a little. My bed is my comfortable little sanctuary and, for the time being, my home.

I am interested in exploring what defines a home and whether its tied to a specific location and collection of objects or more a general sense of comfort. I created stencils using imagery from places where I have felt "at home" in the past year of traveling. My next step is printing these stencils on fabric and working on an installation.
